I've been reading and teaching about grace lately.
How hard it is for us to comprehend God's grace ...
We SO want to add our own effort to the mix;
to show God how worthy we are of his free gift.
I love this poem
because it so beautifully
paints a picture of
the surrender
necessary
to truly experience
the free grace of God.
The Avowal
As swimmers dare to lie face up to sky
and water bears them,
as hawks rest upon air
and air sustains them,
so would I learn to attain
free fall and float
into Creator Spirit's deep embrace,
knowing no effort earns
that all surrounding grace.
