Featured: Camino magic ...

Two years ago I walked part of the Camino de Santiago in northern Spain with a group of friends and a group of strangers who quickly became friends. It was not a trip, it was a transformation. The Camino is an ancient pilgrimage with various routes across Europe, all leading to the Church of St. […]

For all is well ...

"We need not get frantic. God is at the helm. And when our little day is done we lie down quietly in peace, for all is well." (Thomas Kelly) {SCOpenGraph title=For all is well ...} {SCOpenGraph description=We are tempted to live frantic, worried lives. We do not need to do this. God is at the […]

Praying the Psalms ...

Eugene Peterson loves the psalms. He has helped me to love them, too. And to use them as my guide for prayer. How? I start at the beginning. Starting with Psalm 1 I read a psalm each day when I sit down to think, pray, and journal. I don't care if the psalm fits with […]

And stay awake. When you turn toward a task you consider boring, say - washing some pots and pans - remember the […]

A mental breath of fresh air.

There is sometimes a perception that because I have been a pastor for the past 20 years and have been counseling at least as long, that I have my whole life together.

But honestly, that’s not always the case.

I struggle with many of the same things that you do, and that’s one of the reasons I write Alice at Dawn. So that we can tackle those questions together.
