Professor of Psychology and Spirituality, David Benner, said that most people believe that God is either angry at them or disappointed in them.

This belief damages our relationship with God, of course. Who wants to seek out or reach toward a being who is angry at us? Or who expresses constant disappointment in us?

Answer: No one.

But what if God is neither angry nor disappointed when God looks at us?

What if it is true that -- as the Bible proclaims -- God is love?

Listen to this:

"And if God is love, and if this love is the genuine article, then God delights in you just because you are.

You are the beloved of God.

That reciprocity of love that is inwardly given and received within the very life of God is extended to you.

You can be welcomed into God's community of love.

God shares the thrill of your passions, your homecomings and your sacrifices.

God weeps with you in your sadness; God cries out in dismay at your betrayals.

God's heart is turned toward you.

And even if you lived all your life not knowing God and not returning this love, God would not love you any less.

Such is the nature of love: it longs to be returned,

but it will carry on loving whether it is returned or not."

Now, if this is true---If God really is love, and that love is beyond your wildest imagination, relentless in its pursuit of you, faithful even when you are not, and full of delight in your very existence---how might that change the way you think, feel and pursue God?
