What do you do when you are weary?

I think this is an important question to know the answer to.

And the answer will be different for each one of us. That is why I like it; there is no "right" answer, there is only your answer.

I have learned my way into my answer:

First off, I stop running around and I settle down and stop for a bit.

I ask myself what precipitated this weariness? Sometimes I know, sometimes I don't.

I take a nap or make sure I get a good sleep every night for awhile.

I exercise.

I eat right.

I journal.

I sit by the fire or I sit on my porch.

I just stop trying so hard for awhile.

I almost always stop reading whatever part of the Bible I am trying to slog my way through … the book of Acts, or I and II Samuel … and I head to the Psalms.

I always head to the Psalms when I am weary.

And I let them pray for me. I stop trying to drum up words to try to explain to God how I am feeling. I let the ancient words pray for me.

I have never once failed to find "my voice" in the Psalms. It's amazing.

And, not immediately, not quickly … but slowly and quietly, God refreshes my soul.

God never fails.
