Are you as exhausted as I am of this particular election season? Weary of hateful words, threats of violence, attack ads, tension in the air?
In the midst of a culture that feels about to split apart at the seams, in the midst of apprehension about what is to come, in the midst of a rising tide of Christian nationalism that threatens to overtake any true sense of Christ's grace, mercy and kindness, our church is offering a place of sanctuary and rest on the evening of the election.
Tuesday night, November 5 at 6:30 PM, Westminster Presbyterian Church* in Waterloo is hosting a non-partisan, communion-focused worship service for any and all members of the Cedar Valley who would like to attend. Everyone is welcome.
You do not have to be a Presbyterian, you do not have to be a member of our church or any church at all, you do not have to meet special qualifications to eat the bread or drink the cup ...
You are welcome.
Welcome to join with neighbors who believe that love wins, that compassion beats hate, and that the cross of Jesus Christ is an invitation not a weapon.
So, vote. And then come eat the bread and drink the wine and remember that what unites us is greater than what divides.
